National assembly of Pakistan despite of political turmoils, and allegations that fine money is very harsh and high has passed the PECO, Prevention of electronic crimes Ordinance 2007 now keeping in view the war against terrorism and current national situation and Zarb e Azab and cyber security of sensitive data into consideration. This implies many restrictions on internet users especially of social media users. In the greater interest of country and to safeguard its sovereignty any such comments against religion, country, courts and armed forces will lead to heavy penalties and imprisonment for many years. The fine may be up to a million or half a million depending upon the nature of the crime committed on the cyber world. So my friends ! Be careful in promoting any hate speech or we should totally avoid such cyber offensives. Hackers and misusers of other peoples information will also come under great charge of law enforcement agencies as law enforcement agencies are very powerful in this regard. Be careful in sending text messages to people without their consent or to motivate them to obscenity and vulgarity will also be considered a cyber crime and will be punished with fine and physical imprisonment by law enforcement agencies as proposed by Minister for Information and Technology and telecommunications Ms Anusha Rehman and this bill has been passed by the National assembly of Pakistan.
There are some side effects of this bill for general public as well as for business community also. Business people can't send marketing promotional text messages to general public. Business community and IT people saw many flaws in this bill.
However my friends and general public be careful now in using social media and internet so that this could lead you to heavy financial fine and physical imprisonment also.
